More Melissa shoes.....

I mean, COME ON, who can resist cute shoes that are made from recycled materials that smell like CANDY!??!?! (ok, obviously not me or Nina)

I was in Pin Me last week, and this pair was staring me in the face:
After wearing both pairs around the store, I ended up going home with the grey pair. So cute, and comfy. They look cute with tights, and will be good in the summer too.

Of course after looking up their photo on the Melissa website, I now want the following:

Pretty.

Unsafe "fashion"

So I try hard not to talk shit on this website. I leave that to my fav, dlisted.com

Anyone who knows me know that I find the following things horrid:

ponchos
socks and sandals
tie dye

There is never an acceptable version of any of the above.

The other day I was driving, and saw this gem of wonder cruise up beside me on a bike:

Non-helmet wearing cyclists on busy roads are not a favorite of mine, nor are the ones that weave through traffic. Which this lady was doing both. What mainly caught my attention was the GIANT poncho she was wearing, and the fact that it kept almost getting caught in her back tire. The bottom was batting against it, and frankly I'm surprised that it didn't get caught in the wheel and throw her backwards (by her neck) to the ground.

Ponchos. Don't do it. EVER.

So I've been shopping.....

Just a little bit. No shoes (yet). It's spring, time to update a bit. Nothing too crazy, AND I have been making sure to purchase local, independent, NON-China made items.

First off, I love looking on Etsy.com. I started shopping on there after hearing how happy it made two of my friends who sell on there when they get orders. They both work hard on their goods, and it's cool for stuff to go from designer to consumer.

Last week I bought this lovely:

It's even cuter in person. Today I purchased this, and can't wait for it to come in the mail:

and these, because they were cheap and I am going to make something pretty out of them:
and they are dead stock which I always find very cool.

Today I also stopped by Pin Me (where I sell at) and got this:

From a line called She Bible. It's all made in San Francisco, and super cute. You can't see in the photo but it has a cute collar that goes all the around the top. Plus I'm always a sucker for things with pockets on them, these ones are in the princess lines of the top.

I also got a Jene Despain necklace. The simple charm with a horseshoe. I have few other of her pieces and they are amazing and made by her.

I also had fun picking out a b-day gift for my friend. But it's not her birthday yet, so photos of that will have to wait.

Now back to NOT shopping.

Give me shoes until I drown in a sea of them

I "accidentally" came across a pair of melissa shoes on a shopping site I regularly abuse for their free shipping and returns with no minimum purchase. They had one pair left that just happened to be in my size, and on sale. . . for too much money for a pair of jellies, but they're sooo cute.

Unfortunately, once they arrived and I realized they smell like candy, are ridiculously comfortable, go with everything, and are pretty much the supershoe, I began to spend a grotesque amount of time on the melissa site torturing myself by adding shoes to my cart and pretending like I'm going to buy them. In the end, however, I force myself to close the tab before I have to put in my credit card information because we all know I can't afford $800 in shoes. If I could though, I would buy these:

I love these for the little strap detail. I originally saw a photo of this shoe on a foot and although it's a practical flat, that little detail gives it a bit of an edge.

These come in a variety of colors, but they just came out in the flat black and I'm having trouble not buying them. it's the $145AUD price tag (about $115 US) that kills me, ugh! If only it didn't have such a cute little peep toe . . .

I don't know if I even need to comment on why I want these.

It's less the shoe and more the color that I love about these. Don't get me wrong, I WANT the shoes, it's just that they're not my favorite out of the bunch. I do love the color though, it's a blue that goes with everything.

Here's a blue shoe I really want. That little silver button and the sweet little strap fucking kill me! I also really like the flocking on these. The velvet really works.

Here's another pair of jellies I really want . . . .

I'm really just including these for Alyson. I'm not much of a bow person, but I do love the gray flock, and that fucking peep toe! It kills me.

Oh yes, and these would go perfectly when Alyson buys this shirt

Anyways, so here's my birthday wish list. Are you shopping yet? You know there's only a little less than 2 months and 3 weeks left. I'll be here, phantom shopping with my credit card securely locked away in Bill's lock box. Silently sobbing.

So yeah......

Every last un-bill allocated cent I have will now be going to debt. Both of my credit cards have hiked my rates (one DOUBLED!?!?!?!). They do not care that I have perfect payment history, nor my credit score is good enough to be financed on a home. It is due to "economic downturn, in the current economic climate". Yeah, smart move. Screw over the people that are already having trouble by upping their payments, and having less go to principal. Ugh.

So.....window shopping ONLY. Or trades, which is one of the things I feel very lucky I can do, having a trade skill and all.

Anyway, aside from me wanting to punch my 2 credit cards in the head, this blog is about jewels. I have become super obsessed with what I like to describe as estate jewelry. I mainly troll for this on e-bay. So here are some eye candy.

This last one is what is called a "trembler". Meaning not only does it look pretty but it actually moves, or trembles when you wear it. Years ago when I worked in an office downtown, I dropped off a flier to a jewelry store, and they happened to be cleaning one of these. The ladies that owned the store were fantastic and always liked to show my pretty things. It was much more massive, older, and valuable. It was the most beautiful peice of jewlery I have ever seen, and I doubt I will ever see again, since it was to be put back in the saftey deposit box where it lived.

Watch, and WTF UO?

I think this watch was made just for me!

Also WTF?? I was at the Forever 21 yesterday (and no, I did not purchase several shiny bow objects), and I saw these:

They were the low low made in China price of $3.80. I was just perusing Urban Outfitters and they are on there for $18.00. That is over 4x the price. WTF? I know things can fluctuate from retailer to retailer, but REALLY??? Which is also the reason that I only shop UO's uber clearance rack.

In other good news.....I just realized that I have not used my credit cards this year. Yeah!

I don't know why I want this

But I REALLY DO!!

Now only if I had a fireplace to hang it above......

Just in case you were wondering, yes, it is an inflatable moose head.

Good/VERY BAD

So.....my friend Carolyn, whom should actually be named Amelda, alterted me something Good/VERY BAD. Overstock.com seems to have a metric shit ton of Irregular Choice shoes.

Here are my faves, that are taking immense strength not to order. Those puppies usually retail for around $150.

I actually own the above ones in black with blue ties. The ties are printed measuring tapes that you can untie and measure things if you so desire. Which very much pleases my inner nerd.
