Cosmetic Purchases + New Book

Ok, here's the first post showing cash monies spent. Of course it was on good things, GLITTER.

I hit some random cosmetics shop on the way home from work, on the way to Powell's. I was looking for the Smashbox product.

I spent:
1. Smashbox - Brow Wax ( I use more of that then the color, so I have 3 half empty auburn powders to use with it)
2. GLITTER POLISH - $3.99. (I wish it was cherry red)
3. GLITTER Eyeshad0ws - $5.99.

I was super amazed at the glitter content and size. I was also amazed that there were like 10 different color pallets to choose from. I went for golds of course.

Oooohhh aaaaahhhh, I of course had to slather each one on my eyelids after I got home. It might have been a bit Divine-esqu, but it was sparkly.

Then I went over to Powell's and got the 1st book in the Stephanie Plum Series, recomended to me by my friend Jessi. Her grandma has the rest of the series for me, that I will collect from her next week (SWEET!!). Sidebar- I am a super fast reader and burn through series like crazy, so I like ones that are at least 10 books strong.

This set me back $4.99.

Since it's still 2010, I'm not starting my running tally on purchases. I figure everything I just bought will keep me busy for a while.

Hello 2011!

Still a couple of days off, but I thought I'd say hi early.

I stared this blog 2 years ago, in an effort to stop shopping as much. It's helped. I can honestly say I have completely reformed my shopping habits. This year, I am proud to report I ditched Visa, Discover, and Retail Credit. All I have to say, is SUCK IT. (now I just need to get my kidneys back from Sallie Mae.)

This coming year, and now, I am going to continue posting things I want, things I have thrifted, and things I have bought. As an effort to not consume as much, and to show what I consume. A few of my lady friends are posting as well. I'm also going to put pricing, to keep track of what I've spent, since I hope sharing that will keep my spending in check more.

Happy New Years.

Merry Glitter Christmas

So it's been complete glitter fuckery for about the last month with me. I thought I'd post the last 2 weeks of nails.

Last week:

Done with:

Tip - The Love & Beauty is sold at Forever 21 AND Urban Outfitters. Guess who is cheaper by half? I stared with 1 coat of that polish, then moved on to the subtle glitter of the Millani, then a dollop of mega glitter, then some Mega Shine.

This week:

Done with:

Cheap-o Tip - The Art Deco nail art polish is sold all over, and also at the Dollar Tree, for $1. I have seen it for upwards of $4 at other places. I stocked up when I saw it there, and I see it there often now. I started with 1 coat of the Maybeline Coral to pop the glitter. (It is mission impossible to find red glitter with real glitter that is not for details only). I then moved on to 2 coats of the Maroon Glitter. Then tipped with the Green Art Deco, topped off with a Mega Shine.

This is the best beauty product I have purchased all year. The glitter is super thick. I did my nails up in all glitter and it was wonderful (and also caused my co-worker to call my nails a Tranny-cure). The only problem it is so thick that it doesn't last long, and the entire polish will pop off like a press on nail in a few days. I'm going to a Glittery New Year's party, so I'll post a photo when I doll my nails up then.

Merry Christmas.

Treasures of Goodwill

I love the shit I find at the Goodwill. This last week was especially entertaining, which inspired me to dig up the photos I have been meaning to post of the treasures of Goodwill.

Pegasus Clock, so I may have for reals purchased this if it was a Unicorn, not JUST a Pegasus. I don't think Modge Podge was supposed to be used in this way.

These next two ties have me stumped. Are they promoting oil spills and nuclear energy?

Toxic Waste? Most def, not on my Fathers Day gift list.

This was in on a quarter machine. As if kids weren't creepy enough without mustaches.

This was just odd, and rather large.

But wait! He wants to tell you a secret.

These two lovelies were the "prizes" to my favorite holiday party - 99Cent Gift Exchange Extravaganza - this year was the 11th one! The gem of wonder on the left was a flocked plastic Virgin Mary piggy bank. The right....well, is only what we had been calling Seashell Jesus. You can't see, but all his fingers had an unfortunate accident except the middle one.

This week, I found these two lovelies, and for 99cents each I had to bring them home. (Perhaps next years prizes for the party??). Creepy clown is limp and you can pose him in a variety of ways. I am contemplating taking him to work, just to make my cube creepy. If you take that little hat off, he has odd bald spots on his head.

This shit is just freaky. Free floating doll face. I love it.

Thank you Goodwill!

can has

This is an actual needed item, and a for reals business expense. It's a laptop bag, that can hold my laptop, mouse, external hard drive, sample garments, business-y papers, and a sample garment or two.

I have to note, 99.9% of all laptop related bags/cases are FUGLY as all hell.

If I were a classy streetwalker, I'd wear these.

There is no way in hell I could pull these off, but they would look lovely in my imaginary world.

no can has

That's right. Well for me anyway. I'm sure I'll be lurking about e-bay for these later on.

It's really a good thing these were sold out in my size before I found them. Black and Gold piping!!!!!!!

Ahhh!

I truly can't find the words for how much I adore these shoes. I don't know what brand they are - only that I found them on Face Hunter. I need these glorious pieces of foot art.

New Spring & Summer wardrobe additions

Spring in Oregon is usually rainy. It's mid June and we have already had record waterfall for the month. What gives Mother Nature? Perhaps that is why I have not been as inclined to boost my wardrobe with too many new items. (also I'm on a strict budget until my F-YOU Visa party).

Below are the only non-pillaged items to enter my home in the last few months. I plan on getting good wear out of them for when the warmer weather finally shows up. And I have already learned how to layer them since today is June 16th and our high is in the 50's.

So I've been doing really good with shopping local and thrifted. I went into Target for some cleaning supplies and ended up buying two pieces. Which I felt bad about, but I figure it isn't too bad since they are the only two clothing items purchased from them in the last 4 months.

First being this skirt. It's comfy, the waist stretches a shit ton, and it has a lot of movement. I couldn't find the colorway I got online, but it was similar to this print, but only black and white. $17.99

The second thing I picked up at Target was this lightweight cotton sundress. Has a lot of movement as well and nice little pockets in the pleats. My only gripe (and it is a consistent one of Target) is when they grade their sizes beyond a size 8/10 the strap placement gets super weird. The back straps on mine are at least 1.5" away from my bra straps on my back in the middle. You would think they would check that kind of thing. But for $24.99 perhaps not.
On to things I have bought locally. I love this jewelry line, Plume. The earrings are nice and light on the ears, and well put together. I picked up the green pair on the left at Union Rose. Plus it matches the above sundress perfect! $22.00
One problem I have with dropping off dresses I make at Pin Me, is that I usually leave with a new one. Thus was the case last night. But hey, I love my cute new Gentle Fawn dress I have on today. Even though it is with leggings and a sweater. $89.00

I am also wearing another pair of earrings that I bought at Union Rose. The line, Seaworthy, is new to the shop and I LOVE it. They are also super light, which is something I value in my bodangles. $32.00
Now if the weather would shape up, I would love to ditch the sweater and leggings!

Bigger is always better!

Here is a pair of platform heels that I picked up while in Nuremberg. I find that I am incredibly attracted to the platform variety of shoes. They are damn sexy and always make a statement - even if it's a jeans and t-shirt kinda day.

Best new Carry-All!

So I have a lot of posting to do! I have been slacking so much that I now have dozens of new thrift finds / wants to post of your viewing pleasure. This is a bag that I found at a local thrift shop along with my Nashion partener in crime, Alyson. Perfect for a lap top, drawing pads, more shopping...

Coming to you from the land of WTF...

Some of the best things you find at the thrift stores are not the treasures, but the WTF items. I have found that I have trouble going with my friend Carolyn because we giggle waaaaaaaaay too much. She also likes to scare me with the creepy dolls that are reminiscent of this:

In the realm of WTF, I hereby proclaim this the most WTF item I have ever encountered in all of my pillaging. Behold!
So, let's review. We have a large plastic "frame" with center missing. At the bottom there are angels reading what I assume is the Bible. On the sides we have 2 unicorns. In the center, the earth. Clearly this must be how the world was created.

Now I must find an equally amazing photo to put in the most amazing frame of ALL TIME.

Sweet!

This is one of the best pieces of jewelery I have found in the last decade. My built in homing devices spotted it upon entering the store. Not sure of the era, but I'm guessing '40's. If anyone has a better guess on it's age, I'd love to hear it. It's made of copper, and I have worn it damn near every day since I found it. $12.99

9 to 5 dress

Some times I feel like I may have stolen some of the wardrobe from 9 to 5.

(wait, I want all those dresses!)

Anyway, this little number was $4.99.

Little Faux Lace Dress

I found this cute little faux lace dress with the original tags still on. The neck and armholes have the cute bias cut exposed edge that frays a little. $7.99

Oh Goodwill, how do I love thee?

So here's my start at showing some of the "scores" I find at the Goodwill or other various thrift stores.
Pretty shoes! I had actually wanted these a few seasons ago when they were new. Leather, like new and only $6.99

Finance update

So.........when I started this blog 2 years ago it was in part to keep me from shopping as much. I had a mountain of credit card debt. Not all from shopping, but not being responsible with my money. Living outside of my means mainly, and not saving. I am happy to report that I am now 86% OUT of credit card debt. I hope to have the rest of it gone by the end of this month.

Even though I have so little left, it I want it all GONE GONE GONE! I have well learned my lesson and have been literally paying for it for what seems like forever.

I have also gotten way back into one of my favorite types of shopping. Thrift. I have some great pillaging partners in crime, and the majority of anything new purchased this year has come second had. Which is nice because it is supporting a charity, cheaper then new, green, and really cool shit! I am going to start posting some of my scores, which I love dearly.

In closing I just need to say:

F- YOU VISA!
Discover card you are almost gone.

I love you, where have you been all my life?

It's okay to wear a fanny pack, if it looks like this.
